Intractable conflicts persist when groups struggle to have basic human needs met for identity, security, and participation in institutions that govern their lives. Stalled peacemaking processes often require alternative channels for information sharing and new thinking to emerge. Moving parties toward post-conflict reconciliation also requires addressing the emotional infrastructure that has kept parties locked in conflict. This talk will discuss how interactive conflict resolution methods, such as those developed by Herbert C. Kelman and others, have been used to change thinking, create new policy options, build relationships and communication channels, and address emotional resistance to peacemaking.

Due to Covid-19-related restrictions, we ask you to register for this event at ksenia.radchenkova(at)uni-graz.at.
